Jesus Boat: Witness to Prophecy
by Phil Boatwright

“This direct-to-DVD documentary is thought-provoking and spiritually uplifting. It should be in every church library.”
Phil Boatwright, Baptist Press

FILM SYNOPSIS: The rebirth of Israel is told through the discovery of an ancient artifact found under the shores of the Sea of Galilee. A 1st-century fishing boat identical to the craft Jesus sailed upon with his disciples was unearthed on January 24, 1986 by two fishermen. Mirroring Israel’s own story of devastation and survival, the boat would rise against all odds, and prove to be the oldest surviving freshwater boat in the world.

The one-hour documentary features commentary by theologians Franklin Graham (Christian evangelist and missionary), Joel Rosenberg (American communications strategist, author of The Last Jihad series, and founder of The Joshua Fund), Jay Sekulow (American attorney and radio talk show host) , Skip Heitzig (senior pastor of Calvary of Albuquerque), and Chuck Smith (Cavalry Chapel founder) , among others. They give insight not only concerning Israel’s past but the world’s future, as well.

PREVIEW REVIEW: The boat’s survival is a miracle itself. And perhaps even a symbolic parable. Once removed from its sarcophagus of mud, the vessel had to be protected from the elements. But when a new threat appeared, scientists and archaeologists were bewildered as to how to save it. It took a simple fisherman to outsmart the thinkers as he solved the problem. I won’t give the details here, but it reminded me of the parable found in H.G. Welles’ War of the Worlds, “After all that men could do had failed, the Martians were destroyed and humanity was saved by the littlest things, which God, in His wisdom, had put upon this Earth.”

So is this the boat Jesus was on? There’s no way to be sure. But it’s hard to argue the significance of this discovery once the video is viewed. Though no man knows the time when Jesus will return, we are given signs that remind us that we should be prepared. This simple little fishing boat is a reminder. And I think once you view the DVD, you’ll be assured that it is a sign.

The DVD is available at and should be in every church library.
