Just Write

She's a famous actress with a boyfriend; he's a bus driver who drives tourists around to look at her house. When Hollywood tour guide Harold McMurphy (Jeremy Piven) meets actress Amanda Clark (Sherilyn Fenn) everyone thinks that their relationship will never make it. But as luck would have it, Amanda's having problems with her boyfriend. In an effort to impress Amanda, Harold pretends to be a screenwriter. But his plan backfires when she asks him to rewrite a script that she is considering. He has never done any writing, but he works hard in using his creativity and knowledge of movies to help him get the writing done as well as avoid Amanda's agent (JoBeth Williams) and her ex-boyfriend. JUST WRITE is a romantic comedy, a great date movie, and it will find its appeal generally with adults. Jeremy Piven is quite funny in this enjoyable, delightful film.

The many instances of crude languauge in JUST WRITE are disapointing. If it didn't also include the several instances of obscene language and profanities, this film would be nearly flawless. The movie constantly emphasizes the underlying theme of telling the truth. Lying has bad consequences, and it is strongly discouraged by the main characters in the film. The relationship between Harold and Amanda is also very positive, portraying a relationship beginning the way it should. It becomes evident that they are two people who have real emotions and that they really do fall in love with one another. In fact, their relationship avoids the issue of sex, and they are shown getting to know one another, going out, and having fun together. JUST WRITE earn its PG-13 rating with the amount of language used, but is otherwise a fairly acceptable film.
