High school guidance counselor Sam Lombardo (Matt Dillon) has a reputation as a ladies man in the rich community of Blue Bay, but Kelly (Denise Richards), a senior student, accuses him of rape. Suzie (Neve Campbell), another student, also accuses him but admits in court that both girls lied to frame Sam. The court settlement makes Kelly's wealthy mother break Kelly's trust fund of five million dollars to pay Sam. Detective Ray Duquette (Kevin Bacon) thinks it's all a set up by the trio, but he has to prove it. The plot takes several surprising twists as Ray prods each suspect to turn the others in. The stars should attract the audience and the surprises hold their interest particularly with the missing plot pieces filled in after "The End" appears.

Sam is hardly a role model as a high school counselor with a reputation of having sex with "half the women in Blue Bay." Even Kelly's promiscuous mother, who is seen having sex with an employee, has been involved with Sam. Kelly flirts with Sam by rubbing against him and poses suggestively in clinging wet clothes. Sam removes her clothes for a three way affair with Suzie, and bi-sexual Suzie and Kelly kiss each other and undress in Kelly's pool. Breast and female rear nudity is shown in some sex scenes and male frontal nudity is shown in a shower. Most of the violence occurs off-screen but Ray is shot twice with a speargun and the outtakes show a fairly graphic teeth pulling incident. The dialogue is further mind pollution with 60 obscenities and God's name used in vain 19 times. WILD THINGS is definitely not acceptable viewing for discerning adults.
