FILM SYNOPSIS: Teenage moviegoers who want action, an unbelievable storyline and an excuse not to do their homework may find Push entertaining.. Cassie, a 13-year-old (Dakota Fanning) and two 20-somethings, Nick (Chris Evans) and Kira (Camilla Belle). are in danger of certain death if caught by the Division, a sinister government agency that hunts down psychics to train them for an army of psychic warriors. Nick, the mover, can move objects with his special powers, Cassie, the watcher, can see into the future, and Kira, the pusher, can control behavior, even manipulating her pursuer to commit suicide by putting a gun in his mouth . The three meet in Hong Kong and use their combined “talents” to outsmart the evil Division agents.

How believable is a petite, blue-eyed blonde 13-year all alone in the Orient acting like a bossy action hero? You don’t have to be clairvoyant to predict Cassie, Nick and Kira will soon be marketed as new action figures appearing at MacDonald’s or WalMart.

PREVIEW REVIEW: Push is disturbing on several levels. For a PG13 film, it has incessant gory violence that includes beatings, kicking, graphic shootings, mind-altering drugs, fighting and a variety of killings. A 10-year-old boy watches his father being brutally murdered by a government agent. Using mind control as a tool for good and evil insults God, our Father and Creator. Nick supports himself by using his power to control dice in street gambling games. When Cassie sees bad things in the future, she and her comrades “change” the future, and Kira leads an adversary to suicide with her powers. Also, the portrayal of our government murdering its citizens who refuse to be part of a demonic plan sends out a negative message for young people, our future leaders.

Presenting a flawed Cassie as an action hero is very disturbing. Young Cassie believes she can intensify her visions with drinking, so she consumes a bottle of liquor. What a concept – solving problems with liquor! Foul language includes some strong obscenities and crude language, several from Cassie. There is one incident of implied sex between Nick and Kira, and a few sexual remarks made.

In a nutshell, Preview cannot recommend Push for any audience.
