Twice Upon A Yesterday

Life can be tough for actors just getting started in the business, but for Victor Bukowski (Douglas Henshall), life has just gotten a little bit tougher. His ex-girlfriend, Sylvia (Lena Heady), is getting married. So after trying every way he knows to win her back, he spends the night before her wedding thinking about what he's lost. He stumbles upon two mysterious men who magically show him a way to turn back the clock. They allow Victor to go eight months into the past to the day he and Sylvia broke up, so he can try to patch things up with Sylvia. After all, he was the one who ended the relationship in the first place. This seems to be an easy proposition at first, but Victor finds that its a lot harder to hold on to her than he thought. TWICE UPON A YESTERDAY is a sweet romantic comedy that will find its audience mostly on date night. The well-crafted story has a clever ending that audiences will appreciate.

Despite its R-rating, the film is comparatively free of large amounts of the graphic violence and sexually suggestive material found in many other R-rated movies today. The characters have their failings, but they view adultery as wrong and unacceptable in a relationship. They also see themselves as growing spiritually, although that concept is presented in a very general sense and really isn't a major factor in the movie. Violence occurs on a few occasions, but it is usually mild and not exploitative. However, 19 f-words and 6 s-words litter the dialogue as well as 4 regular profanities. The characters also use several different obscenities to describe either their own or their partner's bodies. Finally, a man and woman are seen having sex in a bathtub with brief side breast nudity and motions. This sex scene and the abundance of obscene language in TWICE UPON A YESTERDAY seriously damage its acceptability.
