Chasing Amy

MPAA Rating: R

Entertainment: -5

Content: -5

Chasing Amy deserves NC-17 MPAA rating. Miramax has sunk to a new low with this disgusting comedy about a heterosexual young man pursuing a very active lesbian. Watching two women in a gay bar kissing and caressing followed by a conversation about lesbian sex acts proved to be more than we could handle. Even R-rated films about heterosexuals do not include such graphic descriptions as this. After 30 minutes we walked out of the press screening. In that short time, we counted 34 f-words, plus 17 other obscenities.

Because we did not see the entire film, we have not given it an Entertainment or Acceptability rating. This movie should be rated NC-17 by the MPAA and is obviously targeted for the gay community. If Chasing Amy is playing in your neighborhood, protest to the theater manager. We would also encourage writing letters to: Miramax Films, 18 E. 48th St., New York, NY 10017.
