Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

MPAA Rating: PG-13

Entertainment: +2

Content: -4

Chris Pine, Kevin Costner, Keira Knightley, Kenneth Branagh. Action thriller. Directed by Kenneth Branagh.

FILM SYNOPSIS: Jack Ryan, as a young covert CIA analyst, uncovers a Russian plot to crash the U.S. economy with a terrorist attack.

PREVIEW REVIEW: I got caught up in the production, which is much like the Mission Impossible movies now, more action and gadgets than witty espionage. But thatís okay. After a season of harsh R-rated melodrama designed to catch the attention of Oscar voters, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is an armrest-gripping thriller ride. Only complaint: around 10 profane uses of either Godís name or Christís Ė with each of the leads getting to use these profanities to express frustration.
